Goodtimes In Galway

When we arrived into Galway we first drove around the Salthill area. This is a little resort town that is on the Galway Bay. Its a lovely place to stay for a weekend. This area had recently been flooded badly this past February, but you could hardly even tell. We then went back into Galway City and parked the cars so that we could walk around and get dinner.

We stopped at K's favorite store - The Sweet Shop! K had been talking about this place all day long. Luckily we literally got in the door 5 minutes before it closed. Remember all the shops and stores close around 5 or 6 every day except for "late night".

People don't walk around normally wearing bunny ears...I think we must have
seen at least 8 hen parties that night in Galway.
We stopped at the Quays Bar for dinner. I have always loved this bar/restaurant and have been here several times now. The atmosphere is great.

This was Coach A's meal which had 4 types of potatoes
on this plate. Very typical for an Irish meal!

After dinner we got back into our cars and drove to the Oranmore Hotel which is just outside of Galway. It was hard finding rooms for two families in the same place...but we did. This hotel was also a conference center so they had a bar and everything. It was perfect! The children all switched rooms so they could have sleepovers. After they were all in bed the 4 of us adults went into the next room which was the bar. It was nice to hang out with good friends and have adult conversation! We had a lot of laughs....but it was definitely a little hard getting up the next morning after staying up so late.
The Oranmore Hotel - this must have been an old house because the lobby
and bar areas where all small little rooms. It was a cute place.

We left a little early for K's game the next morning. They moved the game up earlier so that it would not interfere with people being able to watch the Liverpool premier game. Only in this country! So we drove from Galway to Dublin for a soccer game. Coast to coast! How many people do you know that have done that...for a soccer game? ;-) West coast to East Coast!!
