Happy 9th Birthday to my St. Paddy's Boy!

This past Saturday we had a low key birthday party for T at the house. We just invited some of the cousins that are around his age. This was actually his year to have a big party, but I convinced him to just invite family since we were going to London the following week (which is now tomorrow). I only throw big parties (where they get to invite friends from school, etc) every other year for my children. Its just too much work and cost to have them every year. I'm hoping by 13 they will outgrow the birthday parties, but I have a feeling they will not. I admit it I love birthdays too and I love planning their themed parties.

T decided he wanted a Manchester United party! I was going to make a cake but I don't have any of my supplies with me.  It ended up being cheaper to just order the cake from a bakery. The cake turned out amazing and it was filled with chocolate madeira cake and chocolate mousse which T requested.
Once the children all arrived they just went outside to the green and played. This was your typical Irish birthday party where you don't have to entertain the children. Just send them outside with a soccer ball and they are happy as can be. I set up a table outside with food and snacks for the children. I made a big lasagna, salad, and garlic bread for all the adults and children.
Happy Birthday to T!

I took all the children outside for the soccer ball piñata. None of these children have ever done a piñata before. Which was funny to me because they sell them at the party store here (which is located in a store like a Home Depot). We have one big tree left in the back yard so I hung it from there. We did not have a bat or anything remotely like it to use for the piñata. So we just used a plastic racket!
The children all had many hits and as usual the piñata did not open. So I just tore it open and let the children go wild. They had a great time collecting all their loot.

T had a great party with everyone and even some of the neighborhood children joined in on the fun. The adults all had a great time too and I think we went through half a box of tea bags! I'm not kidding you! The tea pot got filled many many times!

T opened his gifts from the children and he played with his new legos all night. I think the last people left around 9pm. It was a good day!
