Cruising the Causeway Coast

We left the seaside town of Carrickfergus where our b&b was located. We passed a neat looking castle but I would not let Joe stop the car. We had a tight schedule that day and its hard when its dark by 6pm and everything closes down. I know…I'm so mean! We took the Antrim coastal A2 route and went straight north on it. I had read that it was a beautiful winding road along pebbled beaches, through cliff-side tunnels, past castles and natural wonders. Doesn't that sound awesome?

Further up the enchanting coastal road, after Joe driving like an 80 year old man to catch the views, we arrived in Ballygally. We pulled off the road to take a few pictures and continued on. 

Then we drove through Glenarm which was a tiny village. We passed a neat looking gate that went up to the Glenarm castle. We were not allowed to stop at this castle either! 

Then we came to Cushendall where we took a wrong turn but we quickly got back on track.

Our next village was a calm little cove at Cushendun. Who made up these names? Cushendall and Cushendun. Crazy!

Our final little village that we drove through was Ballycastle.

After our fun adventure on the coastal route we finally arrived in Ballintoy where we took a ropes bridge over to Carrick-A-Rede Island.
