The Dead Zoo

Our next stop was the National History Museum of Ireland. This building was built in 1856 and its basically a "cabinet-style" museum. The ground floor is called the Irish Room. It literally is stuffed and mounted birds, mammals, fish, insects, etc.
Entrance to the Museum
Irish Slugs - they are not normal slugs..they are "Irish" slugs!
Irish Fishes - don't forget in biology you can use the word "Fishes"
when referring to multiple species of fish!
I had to laugh at the description of the rabbits:

Rabbits were brought to Ireland by the
Anglo-Normans in the 12th century. They were
kept in enclosures and used for good. There
must have been some escapes because they ended
up multiplying and there are now wild rabbits
and domestic rabbits all throughout the island.

What does the FOX say?
Then we walked upstairs to the next floor. Wow! This really is a DEAD ZOO. It's every possible animal stuffed! The taxidermist must have made a fortune here. L was in heaven though because she loves animals!
The stuffed ZOO!
L - "Ta-Da! Here is the Zebra!"
You can see on the sides of the building that everything is in cabinets.
This museum took a whole 40 minutes and that included L walking around and looking at everything twice. K and T noticed that there were no snakes in this museum or any mention of a snake. I guess St.Patrick really did drive the snakes out of Ireland!
