Christ Church Cathedral and Dublinia Museum

We finally arrived at Christ Church Cathedral after stopping to get water at a Spar (the children said they were soooo thirsty from walking). This is one of the 3 biggest cathedrals in Dublin - the other two are St. Patrick's and St. Mary's. Christ Church is the original site of a Viking cathedral and then this medieval church was built around 1172. We are going to come back another day and do the tour of this church because it has so much church history.

Dublinia Museum
Synod Hall and the bridge were built in the 1870's as a restoration project. The museum is located in Synod Hall which used to be the government seat for all church functions from 1875-1983.  I love the architecture on this bridge, the grounds, and neighborhoods that surround Christ Church.

This is a really neat museum that goes thru the Viking and Medieval history of Dublin. It has many recreations of buildings and street scenes thru the centuries. It appeals to all ages with lots of hands on and interactive demonstrations.

They even have tours in Gaelic
At the end of the tour you walk over the bridge to the entrance of Christ Church. This is what it looks like inside.
After we left the museum we walked back to O'Connell Street. We did a little bit of shopping, dinner, and then took the bus back home. It was a great day but I was exhausted!
