Drizzle in Dingle

It was about a three hour drive from Cashel to Dingle. The Dingle Peninsula is the westernmost tip of Ireland (and Europe). Dingle is a very traditionally Irish because its part of the Gaeltacht, a region where the government subsidizes the survival of the Irish language and culture. You will see many signs on buildings in just Gaelic but there is still a lot of English signs. The main town on the Dingle Peninsula is Dingle Town.  Dingle is a peaceful little town that has a population of only 1,500 people.

We checked into our B&B and this is where we were all staying for the next two nights. It was a cute place with great views and a great full Irish breakfast. Great way to start the day! Of course we were welcomed again by drizzle and a gloomy sky.

Once we got all of our luggage into our rooms we walked into the town to explore (in the drizzle). We needed to find a place for dinner since we were all starving.

The main street in Dingle - very colorful!
Great views everywhere!

We had a lovely dinner at Lord Baker's. This restaurant/pub claims to be the oldest in Dingle. Tom Baker, purchased it in 1890 and turned it into a farm supply store and sold wine and alcohol.

After dinner we walked right past St. Mary's Church and we realized that we could make the 8pm mass (we were just 5-10 minutes late). The mass was part English and part Gaelic.

There are many colorful pubs in Dingle. Many of these pubs are shops at day and pubs at night. I took lots of pictures of the pubs...they are just so pretty and so Irish!

When we were finished walking around we went back to our B&B for the night. We all said our prayers for a wonderful and DRY day for Sunday.

  1. Did you see Dingle the Dolphin??? I am pretty sure when we were in Dingle we spent all out time in O'Garvey and O'Keefe's pub, it was amusing that they are right next to each other
