Isle of Capri - Capri Town, Ferry, and Swimming

We got back to Capri and decided to explore a little. I was also informed that Italians say KAY-pree, not kay-PREE like the pants. Good to know.
Coming back into Capri on the boat
We walked around the Marina for awhile and browsed in a few shops.
Look at these taxis they had...they were all cars or minivans that had the top chopped off

Joe found a path at the end of the marina that continued to go up and up. We were literally walking to the top of the island. At one point I honestly thought we should just turn around...but when we got to the top the view was spectacular. They had a funicular you could take to the top or one of those cute taxis...but no we walked with three children.

The little town at the top is called Capri Town the other town on the island is called Anacapri. They definitely were not creative in their naming of the towns. Capri Town is a cute but extremely crowded. They had great high end stores there but it was so touristy. We walked around for a little while and got drinks and lemon slushies.

they have a little cathedral that is crammed between buildings facing the square
The children really wanted to go back to the hotel to go swimming so we walked all the way back down so that we could catch the ferry back to Sorrento. We figured we had better let them swim today since the next day we had to check out of the hotel.
Joe taking a quick nap back to Sorrento
Arriving into Sorrento
The view from our hotel room...today they had two cruise ships in Sorrento
We could see Mt. Vesuvius from Sorrento and we even drove right by it in Naples. This is Europe's only mainland active volcano. The last time it erupted was 1944. I don't know what they would do now if it erupted because Naples is so built up even around its base. Its a 3 million person metropolitan area.

The children all changed into their swimsuits and hit the pool. It was freezing and none of them lasted very long at the pool. The view was great...too bad it was not just a tad bit warmer.

The children were FREEZING!!
When the children were all warm again and changed we went back into town for dinner. We decided we needed a break from Italian and we ate at the "English Inn"...oh YES we did! We were craving our fish-n-chips, beans on toast, and Irish cider (at least I was).
After dinner we all had our daily dose of gelati and then walked around until it was time to go back to the hotel. We were exhausted!

    1. Ohh thats too funny! Thank goodness we did not see any of that while we were there with the children! That would have been way too much explaining!
