eFlow Cup Finals at Oscar Traynor Centre

The next day after we got back from London K had her championship game for the eFlow Cup. It was played at the Oscar Traynor Centre which is a soccer complex for the NDSL (Northern Dublin Schoolboys/girls League). It was a nice facility with many fields. They were playing Shelbourne in the championship and they are a very skilled team who have been together for many years. Unfortunately the girls knew they just had to go out there and play their best. The scores have been ugly the last two times they played Shelbourne. They are probably either the 1st or 2nd team in the division and Home Farm is maybe 3rd or 4th.

Most of the girls were at least a foot taller then K.
Notice how all the fans are standing. You will never see
anyone with a chair sitting down for a game...ever!

No offsides in games here!

K has been playing halfback for most of the season so she
now gets to do a lot of throw-in. Do you like her form?
Home Farm lost very badly but they gave it their best. They just could not complete against a team that had a lot more skill. The club wanted to celebrate after the game because they are the first girls team ever to make it to a cup finals for Home Farm. You have to remember girls soccer is a very young program in Ireland. A separate girls league was not even formed until 2011 and it does not start until age 8. In Ireland all the emphasis is put on boys soccer.
The girls got a medal for 2nd place
We went back to the clubhouse and the coaches ordered pizza for everyone and the president of the club opened up the bar for the parents. The bar area is really nice. They have a giant tv, tables, chairs, booths, etc. They also have plaques of the famous Home Farm teams and for some of the players that have continued on and became famous. It was neat. Everyone had a great afternoon. The children all played outside and the adults hung out at the bar.

Next weekend is silent sideline weekend! ;-) I think we need this back in the US!
