Manchester - Girl's Match, MCFC vs Stoke, K's Birthday

February 22, 2014
Happy 11th Birthday, K!

The next morning T and I woke up to K screaming, "It's my birthday!". Our little girl turned 11 that day and she was so excited to be on this trip for her birthday. We all got ready and went downstairs for our big breakfast of eggs, toast, and rashers (thick cut bacon). K had a match against a local girls team that morning. They played an older girls team and they lost a tough match, but it was a great experience and now she can add England to her list of international caps.

The girls did a quick change of clothes and then we all boarded the bus once again for a trip across Manchester to see Man City vs. Stoke City. The weather cleared and even warmed up a bit just in time for the match. We had some nice seats and we were all excited to see our very first Premier League match.

Here is a little video of the match:

As my father would say, it was an amazingly exciting 1-0 match. It was a great match though with many other scoring chances. But most of all it was a great experience for us to all share.

That night at dinner the team had a cake and they sang, Happy Birthday. K was so happy and they had cake and the tie-dye cupcakes for all the girls. Everyone was amazed at the candy soccer balls and flowers on the cupcakes. Apparently thats not something that they have over here. Afterwards the girls got to spend an hour in the pool at the hotel screaming and playing all sorts of games. And the parents enjoyed a few more pints...I ended up going to bed early with T because he started to come down with the fever virus.

Some of the cousins at home sent a birthday wish for K
