Getting Ready for the Advent Season

The Saturday after Thanksgiving K had a soccer game. The team had to score a lot of goals to get to play in the quarter-final cup game. I felt bad for the other team because they got demolished by HomeFarm. K only played half the game and had 4 goals and 1 assist. I think the final score was something around 13-1.
That afternoon K and L wanted to decorate for Christmas and put up the tree, etc. They thought Nanny would have loads of decorations up in her attic, but I told them she does not have much. We brought down the tree which again they thought we were going to hang ornaments. But I told them I had bought her a tree last year that was easy for Nanny to do it herself, and its already decorated. You just have to put the pole up the tree and it pops open already decorated - instant Christmas tree! The children did not think that was fun at all! I had picked up some garland, wreath, and white lights. We hung all that up and put lights outside on the little boxwood I had planted in the fall. Then I had bought a few paint your own ornaments at the euro store (not dollar store) so the children had fun painting those.

We bought an Advent wreath but no luck finding the right colored candles. So I just bought sheets of beeswax, rolled it, and made our own candles. The children had fun doing this together. They turned out well!

That evening we made a quick dinner, watched a Christmas movie with popcorn, and looked at our Christmas lights. I love this time of the year!
This is all of our lights outside! It took a whole 5 minutes to put them up!
The family room decorations…not too bad for a pop up tree!
