Normandy - A Walk thru Town at Night and the Bayeux Cathedral

After we left Pointe-du-Hoc we drove back to Bayeux. We found a grocery store on the way back and replenished our snacks for the car, and we got some little things for dinner. It was very interesting to be in a French grocery store. Thank goodness for pictures on the boxes or we would have been lost.

We parked back at the B&B and then ate our quick dinner in the hotel room. Then Joe convinced us all to go have a little walk around that town. WHAT? It was freezing outside and we just walked all over the D-day beaches today. Joe won! We bundled up and outside we went.
It really was pretty walking around at night in an old city
These buildings were so neat looking

We decided to talk a walk by the Bayeux Cathedral to see what it looked like at night. It was beautiful at night all lit up and the cathedral was huge. The cathedral is as big at Notre-Dame in Paris. We thought the church would be all locked up but when we tried to open the door it was open. There was someone inside that was playing the organ.

Beautiful stained glass windows

When we walked inside the cathedral it was a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Some historians believe that the Bayeux tapestry originally hung inside here above the big arches. The cathedral was consecrated in 1077.

Walking back to our B&B
Ahhhh…a wine shop!
When we got back to our room we all went to sleep right away. This was our last night in Bayeux and the next day we were heading to Mount St. Michael.
