Viking Splash Tour

We took the bus into town one day and did the Viking Splash Tour. This was a really fun tour of Dublin by land and sea. The tour guide/driver was fantastic and was so funny! The tour lasted about 1-1/2 hours.

L was not comfortable in the front seat and was holding onto T very tight!

These are the vehicles that are used for the tour. They are American and are from the invasion on Normany in WWII. I even found an old picture on the internet to show you. They are called DUKWs and were made by GM for the invasion.  The vehicles were also used in the Pacific war too. 22,000 of them were built but today there are only a few hundred left. After the guide informed us that I have to say I was a little apprehensive going into the water.

This is awesome, Mom!!

Then we headed into the water....

First they made every passenger put on a life vest.

These buildings were used as horse stables to pull the boats along the water.
Also along here are U2's recording studio in a warehouse and they believe Bono has a penthouse suite in one of these towers along the water. Bono by the way grew up in Glasnevin!

It looks like these are the same vehicles they use in DC for the Duck Tour!

  1. Cool! We planned on doing that, of course before we had to go home early 'cause of the wreck :( Caroline's class got Kaitlyn's postcard!
